Default St00k in a Gumball Race?

Hell look at the sucess Dado is having with his M3, made me think...could this engine handle all the milage at high speeds for long periods of time? If im correct, this race is about maintaining a high speed and not getting caught, not who has the fastest car...considering the speeds many S2K owners have attained, could the St00k fit in fell in this race. Last update an RS4 and Dado were alternating the lead for the latest section of the race

I contemplated this one the other night - as I'm sure MANY others did! (Right, Mark?) I think it would be fun but also very cramped and uncomfortable. Of course, I don't think a long trip in some Ferraris would work, but heck, its for the adventure, right? So... anything can be done. Count me in.

John David, are you up for it? =D

Dado's not competing, he must be a support vehicle, because there are no numbers on his car. Only cars with numbers are competing.

S2000 could handle this with as much grace as the other cars in the rallye, no problem. If I had known about this and raised the $12,000 entry fee, I would have entered my S2000 without a second thought.

The transmission and differential would both need oil coolers and improved lubrication. I've heard Honda's axle grease breaks down easily and that leads to cv failure, so I would probably also recommend redline cv2 grease.

But the real problem is our gearing. The car just turns too damn many rpms at high speeds. Even in 6th gear, you're turning 6500 rpms at 120 mph. I think the engine would make it, but would not be in good shape afterwards.

If you tinker with my graphing gear ratio calculator, you can see that something around a 3.50 or lower rear end would make the gearing much better for this kind of high speed adventure.

Reverend, lots of cars entered turn 5000+ rpm at 120mph. 6250rpm for extended periods should really phase the motor. You can't tell me that a Mini Cooper or an Audi TT can make the treck and an S2000 can't.

Okay, well then I think you need a faster car!!

To average 120, you'd probably need a top speed of over 160mph.

In short, I agree, you could take the S2000 out on the Gumball, have a ton of fun, and have a great story to write about.

If you want to win it, you need something a whole lot faster in a straight line.

Though apparently, there is no winner, and no prizes given out . . .
