Rob, Dado's car is indeed entered, other participants have acknowledged his car, and he did pay the fee to enter. I will get back to you as soon as I find out what # it is. He has a great update on the race on DTMPower.net...

i think it is more than just being easier on the engine to get a longer gear, it is better on gas mileage for a race like this. tooling along in VTEC is gonna suck gas like crazy, i went thru a whole tank in 5 - 20 minute sessions at summit point track last week for about 150 miles to a tank. having to stop every hour for gas would get real annoying. a longer gear that would still let us cruise at 120+ mph and stay under VTEC, along with an auxiliary tank mounted in the trunk, would let us go for longer stints.

Last year, 5 of us drove from Houston to Knoxville for the S2k Days 2001 averaging 96 mph during the 11 hour trip. We only stopped just long enough to fillup with gas, which ended up being roughly every 2 hours. We even hit 155mph during our Mississippi leg for a short amount of time. This car is pretty resilient, in stock form, when the speeds are consistently maintained.

You can stay out of Vtec with a mechanical switch, not a problem. The bigger problem is the fuel load. You'd need to build a gas tank that takes up the entire trunk. Of course cruising at 120+ will pretty much guarantee you won't get rear ended like a Pinto. Stopping for fuel will screw up your average speed. If I were doing it, I'd shoot for a range of 1000+ miles.

I don't think it would be a front runner, but after you add some cooling equipment(tranny, oil, etc.) it could handle it and still have a good reputation.
