Static cling goes on the outside to protect the window t.c. ... Otherwise its kind of pointless.

does it stay on when the top folds down? what about rain? just curious because i want to tint windows and i dont feel like having the whole plastic piece replaced with a darker piece.

yes, the static kind stays on through all that stuff.
even the heat in houston doesn't "melt" it off
