Default Statistics on tranny problems and FREE BEER

I posted here about two weeks ago about the grinding problem I have with my 2002 S2K (1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd; described as "very audible" by the technician foreman I test-drove with).

I received 6 or 7 responses, just not enough to come up with good statistics. It is my impression that some of you have had similar problems and others have not. All I know is that my problem is frustrating enough to consider getting rid of my car. Knowing that you only read this because of the words "FREE BEER" in the subject line, here is my proposal:

On July 30th and 31st, the Honda-America rep will visit Vista Honda in Ventura, CA. If you respond to this email stating your tranny problems (or lack thereof) and show up at 4pm on July 30th at Honda Vista in Ventura to talk to the Honda rep, I will buy you a beer at a local bar afterwards (Of course I have no clue how many S2K owners there are out there and may have to increase my equity line, but so what). A simple yes or no, and a short description of your problems (if yes) will do.

Thanks in advance for your responses,

Jens

BTW, I am male, so no dating inquiries please (unless you are female, you look like Selma Hayak, you have no psychological baggage, you enjoy sports cars and have another ten or so characteristics I am looking for... )

Ah, the creator of The X-Files! Outstanding. Perhaps he can have Agent Mulder investigate your transmission.

Seriously though, could you post a link to your previous thread? I suspect I may have experienced this grind for the FIRST time only a week ago. (After 5800 miles of ownership). I'm not certain yet.

Hmmm...That's not Woodwork. WOodwork it da man when it comes to the s2000 and problems with it. His first name is Kent and his last name is a secret. Ask Chris Carter if he knows Kent from the AHM Torrence office.

I would love to go but I am working.

First of all, I didn't read the subject because of "FREE BEER". I don't drink alcohol.

Anyway, I don't think I experience grinding but sometimes it is a little difficult to switch gears smoothly in 1st, 2nd and 3rd at low RPMs (as you stated before). However, I don't grind at all and it's not that different from my old del Sol, so I guess I've just kind of gotten used to it. ^^;

I would also show, but I am on the east coast. I too get the 2nd gear grind on my 2002 occasionally. Not as bad if I change the tranny oil about every 5k miles with Redline MT-90.
