Default Steering thru turns

I just got a 2005 S2K with less than 6K miles. So far have been really pleased with the handling with one exception. Not always, but sometimes going through a curve or turn the steering seems to lock or stick for just a half-second. Just enough to get my attention and wonder what's up. Is this normal? It's happened in right and left turns. I have original factory Potenza's with plenty of tread left. Tire pressure is 33 psi in all tires.

Any help will be appreciated.

You mean the wheel physically won't turn , or are you just talking about understeer?

Scary as hell if the wheels won't actually turn.

Hopefully it's only understeer.

If your steering wheel is sticking whilst cornering get to Honda straight away.

The next time it sticks it may not 'unstick'

Half a second is enough time to mount a kerb or find yourself the other side of a hedge !!

Could be the electric rack mechanism. Is it a lock up or does it just become momentarily heavy?

The steering has a light 'middle' bit, small inputs needed to corner and then the steering seems to get heavier as you load it up.

Is this what you mean?

Under severe cornering, the rack on earlier cars distorts and one gets stiction. Good job one can rely on the RWS!

Fitment of suspension braces eliminates it.

But I thought they'd stiffened the rack & chassis of the facelift (AP2) cars?

The steering doesn't actually lock, there's just a split second "feel". Not really sure how to describe it. I suppose it may be understeer because thinking back, it seems to occur during aggressive cornering. How would you describe what understeer feels like thru the steering wheel?
