Usually with understeer, the steering feel gets loose. It could conceivably continue to turn loosly with minimal effort all the way to the lock.

Try being more descriptive. How fast are you going? How aggressively are you taking the corner. At what point do you feel the steering tighten up. Turn in? Apex? Throttle application?

I was going fairly fast into the turn (maybe 35-40 mph) and turning the steering wheel slightly. I think I was at a steady speed or slightly accelerating thru the turn. It occurred early in the turn before the apex. I would describe it as a tightening feeling as opposed to a loose feeling thru the steering wheel. The few times it's happened it stopped before I could react in any way.

Could definitely be my driving. This is my first experience driving a roadster. It's my mid-life crisis, I guess. I wish there was a better way to describe it. I'm going to experiment with this curve at different speeds to see if it happens again. Sounds like the slow in, fast out approach might be the ticket.

I appreciate your help.

What's the yellow posted speed on the turn you're taking at 35-40. The S2000 can usually get 15-20mph over the yellow posted without complaining and depending on the state. (YMMV of course)

Go test drive another S2000 at a dealship or something and see if the steering wheel does the same thing.

It sounds like a really big problem for your safety; it takes a split second in a sweeping curve to kill yourself. Seriously have this checked out ASAP I hope it's nothing because if there's something that bad going on with your steering it could put you in the hospital.

Thanks for the great ideas everyone. I'm going to be driving it this weekend in the mountains. Will have plenty of opportunities to check it out. I'm fairly sure it's nothing mechanical, just in my driving technique needs some refining.

Thanks for the advice. Would like to get into a class asap. I spent several hours driving today, mostly winding roads. Took it easy of course but the car handled great. I kept my speed into the curves lower and accelerated out. Haven't had a bit of a problem with the steering feeling tight, heavy or whatever. I figure my initial experiences were understeer maybe. It occurred on a curve I was very familiar with and probably went in too fast.
