Default Step up to an S2000?

Hi all Steve the guitarman here! New to this forum. I own an VR LTD MX5 but thinking of stepping up to the S2000 Don`t know what to do? How do they handle? I know they are fast, but can you get them on the edge like a lightweight Mx5? Are they reasonable to maintain? Convince me!!!!!!!!!! Get back to me peeps so as I may stop constantly turning this over in my mind, and I can get some SLEEEEEP. Cheers Steve.

Test drive one.... then come back to us and let us know how much fun the car is.

Kind of a bizarre thread to ask of strangers. Why not find someone local to show you around?

One thing you guys have to remember is, I would say about 75% of people who test drive S2000's wont take them to a limit where they'd really feel what the car is capable of. It'll give you a fair glimpse but most sales men/women will ask you to basically "take it easy around here" lol.

Not like an MX5 is what most would say. It's easier to push the MX5.

In any case, as usual the answer is: test drive. That's what will or won't convince you.

75% of people who own the car will never take it near it's limits during their course of ownership.

I owned a 2001 MX5 SE, British Racing Green. Beautiful car that rec'd lots of compliments. But since selling it I have owned 4 S2Ks. Although the MX5 may be more tossable the S2000's stout structure and high strung engine take the driver to another dimension......really!

I'll agree that a normal test drive will only scratch the surface of what this car is capable of. It takes years of getting comfortable behind the wheel of it before you will truly feel comfortable pushing it near it's limits (and the tires you choose are as limiting as driver skill!)
