Default Still burning oil

I have about 10,500 miles on my car and I think it is still burning oil. Not a lot, but I still have to add some every a couple hundred miles to top it off. Is this normal? Thanks

i can imagine since VTEC needs oil pressure (?! is that right?) and our engine runs so high rev and hot ... it will burn up more oil if you VTEC a lot.

oh wait, let me run out and check my oil level ... (2300k miles ... )

I'm at 49,000 miles now. I still burn oil.

It really depends on how you drive the car. I spend a whole lot of time in vtec, especially on the way to work.

Every 4,000 miles...my car will drink about 3/4 quart of oil.

Just make sure the oil level is always at the Full mark. You should be checking the oil at every second gas fill up. You will notice that the more you VTEC the more you will consume oil. Its just a characteristic of the F20C and believe it or not the H22 engine in the Prelude.

Search the site for a Service Bullitin about oil consumption. I believe it explains what is acceptable for consumption.

Good Luck

I finally finished up my first quart of adder oil at 1800 miles on the ODO...

I think I'm on the conservative side. Maybe 3 or 4 romps into VTEC per 100 miles.

For this much oil consumption, I'm suprised there isn't a plume of blue smoke behind me when I hit it.

None of my previous Hondas used more than 1/4 quart in the same amount of miles, even the GS-R.

I'll report how many miles it takes to use up another quart.

wow, i just hit 2500 miles and last week i only needed to add 1/4 quart to fill up my oil. i vtec about as frequently as destiny does as well. i didn't burn any oil for my first 1000+ miles as well. not exactly sure when i noticed the oil level dropping below full.

i guess i have one of the engines that burns less oil or something....

a decent amount. I guess it all depends on engine!

It totally depends on the car. I have a tad over 13k on mine and have never had to add any oil. I am going to check it now, out of paranoia (I usually run and check it every time a new consumption thread is started.)

For the record....tons of VTECing and hard driving.

Now my del Sol, that is another story. About a quart every 1500 at this point (94,000 miles)
