Still have 1st to 2nd gear grind after Honda fix.

The transmission is much less likely to grind than before the TSB, but I have ground 1-2 at least 3 times since I had the transmission TSB work done last winter. The conditions when it occurs are hot weather, high RPM shifts with a slow shift to second and the clutch fully depressed. When I do high RPM shifts faster, I haven't had a problem since the repair. Maybe the synchro's can't handle large RPM differences. A typical case where it grinds is in a 35mph speed zone where I accelerate quickly to the speed limit in 1st, then get off the gas as I depress the clutch pedal, and slowly shift to 2nd.

I'd have another dealer check the work. We've heard of several drivers that had to get the TSB redone due to bad work or mistakes from the first time in. Good luck.

I have had the same problem twice. Rolling around 25-30, accelerate to 8.7K RPMS and a fast shift to second and a grind. Not every time. I have alot of confidence in the Mechanics that did the TSB. I've discussed it with them and they asked that I bring it in after Asheville and they will look at it......

I am not 100 % sure yet, but i believe mine is doing the same after the fix. I babied it the first 1000 kms and then as soon as i shifted a little faster then average khhhhhttttt.
It has happenned 4 times since, two downshifts and two upshifts.
I am not declaring the new gear set "cheese" yet though.

Mine is the same.. hot weather and hard running have brought on the 1-2 grind even after the TSB work. I am waiting for the real warm temps to see if it is bad enough for me to want to take it back. It does not take high rpm for mine to grind. Normally it is the first 1-2 shift after getting off the highway and more likely at 4K not 9.
I am guessing that it needed more than one new part to resolve the stacking tolerance problem in many cases and in the early fixes they just took a chance on what was available. The work done on my car was excellent and it makes more sense that it is still a parts problem, not assembly.

I think you will find that this problem only occurs if you try to come out of first gear before the clutch is depressed - whether or not the clutch is fully disengaged when you shift to 2nd does not matter.

I had the TSB done and the grind improved, but has reoccurred 3 times since the TSB was done six weeks ago. Previously, I could reproduce it in any weather over 50 degrees F.

I have grinded 2nd 3-4 times since I got my fix...but I'm not sure if the new parts are to blame...I might have been shifting incorrectly those 3-4 times.
We will see when the hot weather comes.
