Default Still in love after all these years.

Weather was beautiful today. Took the hardtop off the CR and went for a drive with the wife. Had lunch at an outdoor cafe with the S2000 parked along the street. It was amazing and I thought, "How fortunate am I?" Simple pleasures and it was a great day. Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in a bunch of things that ultimately don't mean squat. It's nice to have a little reminder of simple happiness and a loved one to spend it with.

As a little background, we've been married for 10 years and had S2000s for 8 of those. It's fantastic that some things get better with time and some things you grow to love more each day. An S2000 was the first nice car we ever owned together and now, a number of years later we're doing well and I could buy something else... but I'm good.

Disclaimer: I did pick up a CR in 09, but we still have our AP1 as well.

thats great to hear, and I know exactly what you are talking about. For the first time in many weeks I finally had a whole sunday to do absolutely NOTHING, I spent the majority of the day in the garage admiring the s2k and its timeless body lines, and its even better sharing those drives out with your significant other on those "perfect" days. Theres not a single new car out there that interests me one bit.

Have to agree that I can't find a single car on the market that excites me more than the S, I'm on my second and this is my keeper.

I agree, I just drove to Tacoma and back (top down) and am just as enthused as the first drive. I can pay more but see no sence in doing that.

Wrote this a couple weeks ago on another forum:

"I had a meeting (lecture on the Euro debt crisis in Greece, wooohooo!) in Naperville last night, which is a looooong way from my house in Crystal Lake. Had meeting, got a beer with some classmates, then drove home. 88 to 47, 47 being the road that one could argue is the western edge of the Chicagoland suburbs.

It's mostly through farmland and the occasional small town; I went about 35 miles, from ~930 to 1030PM, on a beautiful, 70*, starry night. Top down, glancing at the stars, and The Hollies' "Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress)" comes on. Bliss. Even if you think you don't like convertibles, a night drive when the skies are clear, the weather is perfect, and the traffic is light is magic.

Goddamn do I love that car."

Whatever ckit, you're just trying to get a front page story.

Here's my story:
Single guy with a s2000. Single guy meets girl. Single guy with an s2000 and gf buys another s2000 ( CR). Guy sells ap1. GF gets preggy. Guy trades in cR for family car. Guy saves money for 3rd s2000. Family wants to see guy and GF get married. Bye bye dreams of 3rd s2000.

Total agreement with this thread. Started with an AP1 in 03. Got a GPW AP2 in 04. Moved out of the country, sold the car. Came back, had an STi, got a G37, and nothing could quite bring me any true driving pleasure.

Three months ago had to get into another S2000. Found an 03 w/ 8,000 miles, and haven't looked back since. Spent this last Sunday just driving, and loving every minute and every shift of it. Nothing else on my mind.

Completely agree with you on the getting caught up in stuff that really doesn't mean squat. When we do get a chance, me and the wife also enjoy a relaxing drive with the top down in the S2k. Come to think of it, we are overdue. Thanks for the reminder

i had an 03 s2k, but i sold that and eventually bought a 06 wrx. when that got totalled, i realized that high revving all motor cars were a dying breed short of buying an exotic. that is when i knew i had to have another ap1 while i could still find one. i eventually found a ap1 with 14k miles on it at a local honda dealer. suffice to say, im not selling this one.......ever.
