this is still to much to pay correct?
i had offers for cr's from dealers for 28 w/o a/c + TTL
this was 6 mos ago.
the car is almost 2 years old now sitting on the lots, i'm hoping for 28 otd
but i don't expect it, at least for another 6 mos
again not a big deal to me, i've always wanted an s2k, but im content with my mazdaspeed3 so if they dont give me a price im willing to pay, i walk

Apex Blue looks A LOT better in person. I hear 2 things all the time from friends, acquaintances and complete strangers.
1) That color looks awesome
2) I hated that color in pictures and I can't believe how good it looks in person.

Go to bank.
Get cashier's check for $28,000.
Bring it to dealership and say I'm ready to buy 1 of your 3 identical 2 year old vehicles for this, and only this.
They won't let the deal go if they see you came prepared and arent just shopping.

In some ways I think Honda dealers are less willing to deal now than six months ago. Everyone was freaking out with the economy and nobody knew how low it could go. In the meantime, things have settled down and the GM / Chrysler debacle puts Honda in a good position to absorb their "would be" business. The local dealership had a record May sales month.... Also, the S2000 is done, so it doesn't matter if it's an 08 or 09 for the CR. There won't be a new, improved model for 2010 and even if it's two years old, the warranty starts at day of sale.
I think this is as low as it's going to get. If the other cars pick up (Civic, Insight), then the dealership isn't as pressured to move the CR.
To save $1000... are you willing to spend a weekend driving or flying hundreds of miles away? What is your time worth? Because with only 668 CRs made in 08, it'll be hard to find them locally later.
We're in the same position with our RS4. I looked and I can't find another one in the state for sale right now....
