it would be more than 1000, they're asking 29 + ttl, so its 3k +
i dont plan on driving anywhere to find one, i was interested but
im perfectly fine not having one either, only wanted to get in if it was a killer deal. 29 + ttl would be roughly 32k
for 32k i'd rather buy a 370z at this point

I am confident that you can get the CR for under $30k otd. As you have heard from this thread, there are more than a handful of purchasers who have done so.

As I was suggesting before (and my counterpoint to the non-owners pulling random numbers out of their backsides)... if you lowball them with a silly number, they're not going to take you seriously at all.

I'll bet you can get the CR for under $29k otd if you negotiate well.

look on the bright side, the 370Z is a more practical car anyway/ Unlike the S, the Z is almost a real car.

Yeah, pound for pound... the Z is 113% the car the S2000 is.

they have 3, all apex pearl with a/c

seems kinda high still, i'm stilll leaning towards a 370z at this point
just thought i'd throw this out, what's a fair price for it?

i figure 2010 models are starting to show up here and there, so this car is 2 years old now.
I can try to help.

Two clean 08 (regular not CR) with about 10k miles on the click went for about $24K at auction.

So figure if the dealer takes those he would sell for a minimum of $24K plus what ever fees there were in the transaction. He will obviously try to list "at market" to make a profit- I don't know where that "market " is because this is a low volume niche car.

So IF, IF there are no special incentives from the manufacturer on your NEW CR then a $27-28 figure ain't bad.

The problem is figuring out what the TRUE dealer cost is on a new vechicle unlike used where at least you may have an auction price to work with. It may NOT be the invoice price. Somebody posted that there was some $8k of juice from Honda on s2k. If that is true then $27-28 is a ridiculously high price. I don't know where that poster got there info but if true it is relevant for your negotiation. That would be the new invoice price.

I don't know why Honda would add juice to the car to move it. Go to a Honda dealer in any metro city- they are huge and filled with Civics (go Si!!!!!), Accords etc. Do you think that the s2k (if they have any) costs them anything to sit in the showroom as a halo car?? nothing. Their fixed costs are really allocate.d among all the other cars which the better move fast or they start to eat lots of financing cost. But one niche car sitting on a lot that is already "financed" by all the other civics etc. means nothing to them. If I were a dealer I would let sit there until a motivated buyer can't wait and MUSt have car NOW.

Last thing- don't wait forever to get last 25 cents- life is too damn short. Get the car and drive it this weekend- supposed to beautiful in the northeast!!!!

BTW- hated the blue in pictures but saw in person and it looks AWESOME.

Thanks for the info! Very helpful. I used the information off s2ki.com to help me get a good price on mine. The difficult part is separating out the rumors, speculation, and conjecture from the objective data.

Everyone would ideally get the absolute best deal ever on a new auto but the facts are that someone else will always beat the best deal we could find. IMO, the way to buy a new car is to look for a GOOD deal and then push a little to get a little better than good.
I for one am not going to look for weeks or months with rhe impression that I can probably beat the best deal I found within the first few days of shopping around.

Thats not a bad price at all for a CR. I love the CR just whished it had a soft top some times. Every where i go i get people asking about it they never think its stock. Its the funnest car i have ever driven not the fastest but most fun. I also got last tank 31.1mpg im shooting for 400 miles on 10.8 gallons here soon. which would be around 37mpg. i just have to keep it under 3000 rpms to get it. Now my only problem is sometimes i do get on her and take her to rdeline just to hear the engine scream i have done this twice second time being yesterday. But that was the last time i need to take it easy on it.
