Default Still not clear on JACK points!

Hey guys,

I read through the big jack point threads:

https://www.s2ki.com/home/2010/05/10...up-your-s2000/
https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/208...n-jack-stands/
https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/233...s/page__st__50
https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/gallery/i...46867-jackjpg/

Sorry but I'm still not 100% sure where to place the jackstands.
I've seen some s2000s with their fenders pushes up from improper jacking and I don't want to risk it.

Here are my own pictures with my question--

  • So is it on on the frame... GREEN area?
  • Or is it on that THIN, flimsy tab that sticks out... BLUE area?
  • Or is it in the area with the different undercoating texture below/beside the tab... RED area?
Pictures would be helpful. I feel incredibly stupid that I spent so long pondering this today. A lot of the jack threads themselves have so much different info. Some people say jacking much more inside on the actual frame itself is OK, some say the seam welds will bend a little. Help?

Thanks!

Theres a pic with a ruler in the faq. I always jack up on the jack points and put the jack stands under the frame rails, the piece with that plastic curved cap in the second to last pic.

The side jack points are what you refer to as the thin flimsy tabs; your bottom photo. The frame rails are not the approved jack points, although some people use them with confidence. I feel your pain, I had to have someone climb under the car and show me (and I verified it with several others).

Make sure you use the correct flimsy tabs. One set is flimsier than the other...-

if you look under the car near the front wheels, there are what looks like 2 sets of tabs. if you look at the one closer to the rear of the car, that is the one you use. you can tell by looking at it as it is much thicker than the front tab.

Well, since no one really gave me a straight answer, I assumed the pictures in the manual pointed to the BLUE areas in my picture above:

The flimsy tabs that stick out. (the second one of two near the front wheels and the only one near the rear wheels)

Seems it may have worked--The car seemed solid and didn't crush me with it's weight. Oil change went OK.

Thanks guys!
