You are comparing color temperature to brightness. They are not convertable.

Candela (cd)

The international unit (SI) of luminous intensity. The term has been in use since the early days of lighting when a standard candle of a fixed size and composition was used as a basis for evaluating the intensity of other light sources. This unit is used in measuring headlight output; basically the higher the number is, the brighter the light is.

Kelvin (K)

A basic unit of thermodynamic temperature (color temperature) used to measure the whiteness of the light output. The higher the number is, the whiter the light is. When over 5000K the light begins to turn to blue as daylight and then into the purple end of the spectrum.

Danny,

The limit of 112,500 is a Regulatory limit and is per side of the car. With both headlamps the limit should be 225,000 cd which corresponds with a reference value of 75. (UN-ECE Regulation 48)

On each lamp (in case of the S2000) on both the left and right headlamp a number (i.e. value) is molded into the lens. If my memory serves me correct this value is 37.5 in case of the S2000. This means the total value (37.5 + 37.5) 75 which corresponds to the maximum exactly.

This number however is solely stated for the purpose of EU spec cars, so I don't know if the specs will be exactly the same for USDM or EU spec S2000, but I expect it to be the same (same basic hardware except headlamp levelling device).

If the limit of 112,500 is for both sides of the car together, you might have a problem.

Good luck,

Siepel
