If it came with the car it is Al. I think the Ti one is a little darker and heavier than the Al one.

I think I read that the Ti was an option on the earlier models. Do a search.

The ti knob is 255 grams. The al knob is 150 grams. This thread will get you started.

For people who have driven with the original Al or Ti knob compared to the knob that's on the '02s or '03s, which do you prefer? I'm debating whether to snag the Al knob off the '00 we have to swap it for the knob on my new '02 - but I'm thinking that the '02 knob might be less likely to fry your hand in the summer.

Any opinions?

People really make a big deal that the all-metal shifter will be ice cold in winter or extremely hot in summer, slippery, etc. I mean, C'mon.....they are all people who just have to whine about something, unbelievable they do it on something as lame as this.
Maybe once every five years this might be an issue that would be resolved by either wearing a glove or grabbing a piece of cloth to shift the thing until it cools. IMHO it is no big deal.
Choose the shifter you like because YOU like it. They are both excellent and beautiful. Enjoy your S2K!

Peace
Daniel

Yeah, I've had the Al knob for 1-1/2 years and it DOES get hot in the summer, but I think it looks so good. However, I haven't used the car as a daily driver, so an occasional annoyance may become a big issue, and that's why I was asking.

Thanks for the opinion, it's kind of what I thought anyway!
