Stock tires?
yujintheman:
Go to the wheel and tire section of the site and do some reading. Don't let Excel get to you. He is just being "special" today. There is truth to what he is telling you, but he is not giving you the whole story.
Emil's suggestion of the Fuzion tire may be a good one, you can get all 4 for not much more than a set of S02 for your rear.
The Yokahamas should be worth a look too but I think they are more expensive than the Fuzions.
The advice to not mix brands or types of tires is true -- don't do it.
The advice from Xviper about the fact that there are more than one type of S02 in the size needed for the S2k is accurate. Make sure to get the right ones (the W rated ones). The footprint of the other ones is not the same and will cause handling problems.
Tire Rack can be your friend. Even if you don't buy from them, Jim who covers the Wheel and Tire forum can be very helpful.
The advice on your need for snow tires in Michigan is right on exactly. Don't try to drive on any snowy, slushy or icy surface in the stock tires. They absolutely will not tolerate it (They are summer performance rubber only). If you can't tolerate the cost of snow tires, then give up the performance tires and switch to something more All Season like a PZeroNero M+S.
It looks like you have been registered at S2ki for a while but have very few posts so I assume you are not here much. Therefore, take the typical advice to new folks and go to the Wheel and Tire Forum, read the stickied threads at the top, look for FAQ's and use the search feature.
Good luck bud.
