Default Stock tires

I have the stock tires on my S. Live in Maryland where it is starting to get cold. What temp do the OEM tires become unsafe or lose traction. I plan on buying some all season tire in the next month or two. Putting it off as long as possible.

Any suggestions on good all season tires? We don't get enough snow for snow tires.

thanks

Try posting this in the Tirerack section. There is tons of threads about winter tires. But to answer your question, last winter I was using a Bridgestone all season, I dont know the exact model. They did o.k. I will be using snow tires this year.

My S2K is not my daily driver so I only get it out every 2-3 weeks during the winter when the weather is clear. I recall reading somewhere that the grip on the stock SO2's (don't know about the RE050's on your car) starts to drop off as the air temp goes below 60 degrees. I drive like an old lady when it gets down to 40.

While I've never had all season tires on the S2K, I have Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires on my Acura TL. They're a bit pricey, but they perform exceptionally well in most of the weather conditions we see here in Maryland. They come in AP1 sizes -- not sure about AP2.

I'm looking at the Yokohama Advan S4 All Season they are highly rated. I don't plan on driving my S2k in the snow so I don't plan on getting Winter Tires.

However driving to work today it was in the upper 30's low 40's and I had no problem with traction with the stock summer tires. I know that the summer tires are suppose to lose grip below 45 or so. But I have not experienced this. I tested it out this morning driving a little spirited and it was not bad at all.

I did the same thing last winter when I had my 350z on stock summers. Driving the speed limit you should have no problem at all maintaining traction.

That being said, I'm still thinking of switching to the Yoks simple because of the wet traction on the summer tires in not good. If it were mostly dry and cold, I personally would stick with the summer tires all the time.
