for power gains, F/I is the only way to go.

even if you went full BPU with a piggy back, you may see 15whp or so..not worth 5k IMO.

Good deal, and very light and im sure it will help performance. I'm just not a fan of the look, the great thing about being a car enthusiast is that there are a crap load of wheels out there. There will be a light weight performance wheel out there that fits the style of your car. Getting a deal like that though will be the hard part haha.

Comptech supercharger

Everything else doesn't really give much bang for buck.

Gears are supposed to be the "best bang for the buck".

I view anything that makes me happier with the car as an "upgrade", doesn't have the make the car perform better or anything.

My biggest complaints about a stock AP1 are the dampers and the tires.

I would move to a non-staggered wheel set up with some really nice dampers (stock springs are fine) and a front sway bar to get the balance of the car back after the wheel stagger change.

Next, I'd do a mugen exhaust just to lose the weight and keep the nice quiet exhaust note.

After that, it's all more race oriented parts and that will kill the daily driving niceness. Some sweet stuff would be seats, a steering wheel and stiffer springs... maybe an intake.

I was going to say the same thing until I saw your post... lol.

And they're only wheels, but they help with acceleration, cornering, and braking. Well rounded upgrade to get into.

[QUOTE=SmattaHead,May 1 2008, 06:28 AM]There are alot of things you can do to these cars...they are definitely modifiable...but, what mods are actually UPGRADES over stock?

I am guessing that many mods are simply a matter of taste, but not actually upgrades.....

I'm just wondering..and could use the input of this board...

My mods would include:
18' wheels w/beefier tires than stock (yeah, I like the look of custom wheels over stock, but I can't honestly say that this would be an upgrade);
lowering springs, another 'look' item which may actually hamper the comfort of riding in the car;
front lip and rear spoiler, more 'look' items;
K&N FIPK air filter, which may give a very little (unnoticeable?) upgrade, but makes the sound 'better';
maybe a stainless exhaust, pro'ly no better than stock, and $$$;
brushed stainless interior pieces, another 'look' item;
front strut bar, an actual upgrade for cornering?, with possibly an X brace?;
shift knob!!!!

I dunno!?

If you want practicality, any part that is made for your car that is revised, is usually the best way to go. Almost all modifications yield some negative consequences. The only real part that is OEM that would cause any kind of issue would be a front lip since you have to drive more carefully up and out of driveways.

Other than that, you cannot go wrong with a newer retrofitted part.
