Default Stolen s2000s

As we all know, our cars are stolen or broken into very often and it seems that a lot of the time that the owner doesn't have an alarm. Why? I really can't comprehend, but I was curious as to how many people have had a good alarm, possibly with a proximity sensor, and if anything has happened to their car. Same goes with seat locks.

I just get paranoid and worried about my S so frequently, but don't know if I really should be all that worried since I have an alarm with a proxy sensor and two-way pager. I also have seat locks with a seat lock decal on the window and wheel locks. It's not like I don't know you can only do so much, but still, the more precautions you take, the better. I think I went comma crazy.....

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

All you can do is make the the thieves work harder. If they want it, they will take it and that's why you pay your insurance for

After I got my first car stolen, I put a steel pipe just beside the door and I found myself countless time opening the door with it thinking I've heard the f@#kers coming back to take my other car. Time passed and I've learned to deal with the anxiety and now, it's not that I don't care, but I figured that even if I had a camera watching the car etc. there's nothing that will prevent a thief to take my car. It would be pretty hard right now as the car is sitting without a battery (it's garaged) and so far, it makes me giggle thinking about them bringing a godamn battery to get away with the car

Now, I feel safer with the S2000 than I did with my Si's. Si's are so easy to swap around parts between models (talking about EM1) that almost all of them have been stolen around here.

I'm surprised at the lack of responses to this thread and am honestly disappointed. I figured more people would want to chime in and help others learn from their experiences/mistakes, so I appreciate your reply that much more.

Coming from a 94 Integra being my first car, I have had less and less aniexty because that thing has parts stolen and was vandalized more times than I care to remember. I know it would have been stolen if it were a manual. Good thing it wasn't. I had an 08 Si after that and the only problem I encountered was two of my rims being stolen cause I was too cheap to get wheel locks.

Anyway, you're right about insurance. I'm just so emotionally invested in the car and waited 11 years to own it. I'm moving to Florida and it will be garaged, so I'm hoping that's a bigger deterrent too than just having it in my driveway. Every time I see an EM1 Si I wonder if its stolen or how the owner keeps it from being stolen. I always wanted one so badly and it's a shame that people have to ruin a car to the point that it's extinct and extremely rare to see, let alone get behind the wheel.

Thanks for your reply. It actually helped.

There are other ways to be proactive in protecting your car. Wheel locks, seat locks, hardtop locks, lock locks...

I think being careful about where you take the car will go much farther than installing an alarm system. Keep it in a garage, don't bring it to the bad part of town, don't take it if you're going to leave it unattended for a while, etc. An alarm will deter a thief, but you'll do better if you avoid the thieves all together.

It's also a matter of staying stock. Some people don't want to make the changes installing an alarm would require.

Maybe Lo-Jack? That way even if they steal it, they wont get too far.

Too much anxiety. Sorry but I think you'd be better off driving something else. No car is worth what this one is putting you through. At least think about it. GL

You shouldn't be surprised and disappointed that people don't want to tell the whole world how they keep their car from being stolen. THIEVES lurk car forums and really enjoy these type of threads because they make their job much easier. I think it's dumb how people post all of their performance parts and security alarms that their vehicle has and whatnot and even their location sometimes. It's even sketchy going to car meets these days.

In all honesty it is just a car. Do you worry this much about your wife, kids, parents, siblings? You might just have too much anxiety. There are infinite what ifs. You seem to have already taken many precautions, so there is no use in worrying. The safest thing would to be to lock up the car in the garage and only take it out for joy rides and come back immediately, but that would not be very practical.
