Coming from a 94 Integra being my first car, I have had less and less aniexty because that thing has parts stolen and was vandalized more times than I care to remember. I know it would have been stolen if it were a manual. Good thing it wasn't. I had an 08 Si after that and the only problem I encountered was two of my rims being stolen cause I was too cheap to get wheel locks.

Anyway, you're right about insurance. I'm just so emotionally invested in the car and waited 11 years to own it. I'm moving to Florida and it will be garaged, so I'm hoping that's a bigger deterrent too than just having it in my driveway. Every time I see an EM1 Si I wonder if its stolen or how the owner keeps it from being stolen. I always wanted one so badly and it's a shame that people have to ruin a car to the point that it's extinct and extremely rare to see, let alone get behind the wheel.

Thanks for your reply. It actually helped.
The main thing with the EM1 is that they didn't come stock with any kind of alarm system. It's almost too easy to the wannabe ricers to get ahold of one. It was also too easy to swap parts around with any other civic of those years which increased the chances something would get stolen. My first EM1 was stolen and my second one was stripped from it's wheels, front lip and some others parts. I was also emotionally attached to my last EM1 and when they this happened, it felt like the car wasn't mine anymore for some reason. It actually helped me to let it go and get the S2000 hehe.

I feel much safer with the S2000 now, knowing that there are fewer of them around and that the parts aren't easily swappable into a civic or w/e. I still look around to see if some car is following me when I drive the S2000 and go back home and I look out for suspicious activities in the garage after I park. Though, when the car is out of sight, there isn't much I can do besides trusting my insurance company if something happens

Alarm on day 1, seat locks ordered the day I got mine. Car is parked outside every night until 2 weeks ago. I recently sold 2 classics and now have the space to park inside. Been parking outside for 8 years and have had handprints on the side window from someone obviously looking into my car(2 times) but no one has attempted to break in. I also had a 2000 Civic SI for 3 years that an alarm was installed the first few days I had the car and it also never was broken into or stolen

Anything you can do to make it harder for thieves to physically get their hands quickly on your car the better. Thieves pride themselves on how quickly they can steal a car, slow them down and the risk to them goes up. Do not leave your car outside over night, if you do, avoid parking in the same place if at all possible. Use motion sensor lighting either outdoors (garage or driveway) cover your car if left outdoors to make it less attractive. Use a driveway alert system which gives a tone alert, just place it high enough that cats/dogs don't set it off. These are cheap, wireless and work night or day. Consider etching your D.L. number into glass, hardtop (inconspicuous place?) and other major body panels either with an electric etching tool or chemical etching on glass. Some Police Dept's. offer this service for free or a slight cost.

Avoid places that thieves frequent, this is a hard one considering we like to show off our cars. Car shows, especially the tuner type, attract all types of people. These also offer thieves a close up "shopping" environment for future thefts. Be suspicious of people that want specific information on where you live, the type of alarm you may have or type of parts you have installed. You have to use your bet judgement in this regard, so be wary of too many leading questions. Our cars are desirable, both to those that own S2000's, as well as non s2000 owners. Yes there are S2000 thieves probably on this site, and other sites as well. Anyway you can add multiple layers of security to your car and it's surroundings will deter thieves.
