Hi guys,
I was talking to David of stongard of georgia... if we get enough people, around 10-12, they can fly someone down here to do it as well. I think right now, I've got about 3-4 cars taht are in. Any one else interested? I am scared to drive my car without this!

I am interested in this Stone Guard product but I would like to know a little more about it. Is this the "Window Tint" type of material that covers the paint? I have seen this in Car and Driver I think advertised as something else...guaranteed for 4 years not to peel or bubble? Eventually you can peel it off and there is the original paint good as new....
Seems to good to be true. Anyone know what the trade off is?

well this product is I believe made by 3M. Front what I understand it was originally developed to protect helicoper blades or something to that effect.
Yes this stuff is clear urethan I believe. It can be washed and waxed just like the rest of the car.
The down sides are probably:
1) cost... cost of product and install. You can do it yourself, but probably better done by the pros.
2) on some color it doesn't hide as well as on other cars.
Is it worth it? I think so. I was debating abut this vs a bra. but then you can't have the bra on all the time and if it rains it's gotta come off. With this, it's on all the time and it protects all the time, rain or shine.
There was a test done by one of the drivers here that had the product on for over a year... took it off, no uneven fading etc.

Stongard is made from 9 mil flexible energy absorbing thermoplastic urethane. It can be removed without harming properly cured paint. On black cars it is a little more noticable, but every thing is more noticable on that color.
The biggest drawback is probably finding a good installer, and it costs more for certain vehicles, like the S2000, just like it costs more to have the back window tinted on some cars than others, for instance a hatchback Corvette vs. a pick-up truck's flat rear window.
One thing I have noticed about the product is when talking to customers that have had this product on their current car for some time will always have it installed on their next new vehicle without a moments hesitation.
