Default Stook Window Protector for $5!!!

I made one about a week ago, it's great! No more creases, & you don't have to spend $50 - $80 to buy one of the damn things.....

1) Go to Kmart or a toy store and buy a "noodle", the foam tubes for use in the pool.

2) Go to a fabric store & buy 1 yard of felt.

3) Cut the "noodle" so it is a few inches wider then the rear window on both sides.

4) Cut the felt a few inches longer than the "noodle" on both sides.

5) Wrap the felt around the "noodle" and get an idea of how big you will have to sew it.

6) Sew the felt together, then turn it inside out so that the seem and the excess felt is on the inside.

7) Squeeze your "noodle" into the felt tube and sew the ends shut.

Good way to save yourself an assload of money

Two great minds working on same problem with same solution! My wife and I just did that very same thing yesterday except we used some 100% cotton cloth and double wrapped the Fun Noodle. I would say maybe $8.00. For those who can do!

I like your idea - pretty cool.

BTW, The muz one (the link you referenced) is about $30 (US) + shipping, not $80. Yes, your idea is much cheaper and will probably work just as well.

Good idea. I've been using this same window protector since I bought my S2K 3 months ago and I don't have any scratches. As for protecting the whole window, just make a tail that extends past the role about 6 inches or so. This will protect the whole window. There was a post about this a while back with some great instructions.
The only problem is I've lost 2 of these already!!! I just keep putting the top up and just driving away!!! DOH!!!

I use a piece of foam water pipe insulation that I found in my attic.

It's often the thunk, duh-duh-duh that reminds me to pick it up & put it in the boot!

Yeah, I also bought foam water pipe insulation from Home Depot.
6 ft for 75 cents. Makes 2 windows protectors.
