Strange vibration/rattle in engine...
Alright... I've noticed this for the past month, and have had my S2000 for more than 2 years, so its not the common decelleration buzz (already got that fixed)
It sounds what could be a loose nut or bolt, but I now know that its not... the vibration only occurs when the everything is at operating temp and gets much louder from 2800-3000rpm as well as 4900-5200rpm. I'm really struggling to know what this could be, as it might be internal. Just wondering if any of you experienced techies could shine any light on the matter or if anyone else has had this problem...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Troy

The conclusion??? Got it fixed, and it didn't have that annoying buzz anymore...
Definately not generated by the wheels in my case... does it when its not in motion as well. Its way more annoying than the decelleration buzz though, as cruising RPM is right where the buzz occurs, echoing off cars and walls (which is what they are hearing as well, and it makes the car sound broken!)

The sound your explaining sounds very similar to one that I've been hearing from my car. I'm convinced mine is coming from the bolts that connect my cat to the header. I had a test pipe and exhaust on it and recently went back to stock. When I put the cat on I didn't have those bolts with the spring thing on it and through vibrations this regular nut and bolt set up has become loose. Hopefully thats what it is for me. I'll let you know

Mine sounds like its coming from underneath the shifter.... The only things I can think of are the cat bolts, driveshaft, or (hopefully not) the tranny. Hopefully I can get in a muffler shop on sat.

Sorry for dragging up an old post
Driv300mph, did you find out what the problem was? I have pretty much the same symptoms, thought it was the exhaust heat shield but removing it didn't solve the problem.
