Default struggling A/C?

Is the A/C underpowered, barely keeping you cool on a hot day?

Mine (MY 05) works great in So. California, where it has been hot and, this year, muggy. I've had my OEM hardtop on during most of the Summer and it radiates a lot less heat than the soft top. It might be that the A/C is fine, but the soft top needs insulation.

Stay Cool

You must have a refrigerant leak or some other deficiency in the system. Mine's an '00 and has never given me any problems in the summer cooling department.

Put a hardtop on and you will notice a big difference. My car doesn't cool that well with the soft top up, but with the HT it will freeze u

I got mine on eBay a while back for $1,700 with mounting hardware. There are a couple up on eBay right now. The OEM hardtop has improved rear window visibility and blocks most of the wind noise.

Good Luck.

No AC problems with my 01. Disclaimer: Still only 24K miles on that 01.

57k Miles on an 01 and not a single A/C issue. I live where there's 90+ heat all summer and a lot of 100+ days. Also, the humidity rarely dips below 85%. If I don't have AC issues, you shouldn't either. Check for a leak, sometimes they're slow enough not to worry with. My wife's car needed less than a lb of R134 this year. Luckily I could add it myself so it cost less than $20 to fix.

I have MY01 with 30,000 miles and the a/c feels very weak. It also blows a fog out of the vents which has a humid water smell to it. Not sure how to make it cooler. And a lot of people posted that their car also gives off a fog out of the vents when a/c/ is on. Any help/suggestions?

The "fog" is just the A/C taking the moisture out of the air (that's what the A/C does). Ever see your breath on a cold winter day? If you live in a hot, dry climate, you won't see any fog.
