My '01 never did this and my '02 never did it either until this past weekend.

I took my S for a 4 day trip to AZ for spring training baseball. I had that stumbling issue three times. Each time was after a long time at speed on the freeway. Heat soak seems like a reasonable cause.

My car had the same problems right after I had my first major service. When I took it back, the tech called it a rouch idle. He said that they had to reset the computer chip so that the car could relearn the idle. I was doubtful. However, ever since he reset the chip and ran the car for 10 minutes to relearn the idle, I have not had that problem ever again.

It was covered under warranty.

Pulling the ECU back-up fuse and holding it in his hand for 30 seconds should be covered by human decency!

I remember having a similar problem years ago with a car that had a carburetor. Cars back then had a solenoid that kicked in that raised the idle speed whenever the air conditioning compressor kicked in. If this was not adjusted properly, or if it did not kick in at all, the drag of the A/C compressor caused the engine to bog down or stall during idle. This would happen if you have the defroster going as well, since this also kicked in the A/C. I have no idea if our engine has something like this, but I just thought I'd throw it out as a possible cause.

my car does the same thing but only after its warmed up.
Does pulling the ecu fuse really work?

I also hear like a tapping noise coming from underneith the car.
Its really noticable if I pull up along side a wall like at a drive through or somthing. Its not a valve tap I think because it sounds like its coming from the crank.

Anyone else have this problem?
