Talk to your neighbour with the G35 coupe and maybe between yourselves you can come up with something?

Is the area your car is parked in well lit? If it is well lit it may help to deter this behaviour. Also if it is well lit it would be easier to film with a video camera (eg have camera always on at night hooked up to an 8 hour tape).

Also take note of when school holidays are in effect. You may be more likely to get egged on weeknights during this time, whereas when school is on, you may be more likely to get egged on weekends.

Car cover sounds like a good idea, although you may also want a cover lock so that it can't be removed.

You guys are great - Thanks for all the tips!! The car cover is my first priority, security camera second - I really want to catch these creeps, not just hide from them, so hopefully that will do the trick. Almost makes me want to leave my car out as bait, before I get it painted again. Now all I have to do is find the best possible location for the camera's mounting point / viewing angle. Probably near impossible to get a fix on license numbers with a static-mount camera.

HondaGal, if you present the cops w/ this video will they do anything about it?

Personally, I'd do a stake-out w/ video rolling and be ready to follow these ers. I agree w/ others that it's probably teenagers who have nothing better to do and are jealous. Since I doubt the cops are going to make this a high priority, it sounds like you're going to have to take care of this yourself. Team up w/ the neighbor who's also been egged.

Good luck! Let us know what happens!

I've thought about the stake-out idea many times, but literally there will be weeks in a row when nothing happens then, bam! Drive-by. I would be sleeping in my car for a month straight. I love my car, but the seats aren't so good for sleeping in...

Have you spoken with any of your neighbors? Does your street have any kind of a neighborhood watch program?

Sometimes it helps to have witnesses.

A camera seems like a lot of money and effort to catch some kids that will probably get no more than a slap on the wrist.

I would definitely invest in a car cover.

Have you tried to park in your garage backwards? Some pieces of plywood on the difficult angles may help.

Video camera, good to keep an eye on it and have evidence to take to the police. The other option would be to wait up late at night, when they egg the car follow a simple 3 step procedure. Shoot, shovel, walk away.

Get a pair of loading ramps like for loading a 4x4 or rider mower into a truck and use them to span the dip in the driveway, or a couple of 2x10's or 2x12's.
You can mark where they go for a quick drop. Aluminum ones are lighter to handle as well. Quicker than putting on a car cover and about the same price or less. If you do a car cover look at the ones with NOAH fabric. It's very thick and an egg wouldn't do a thing, but what's to stop them from upgrading to a rock or brick when they think you think you've out smarted them??...

I vote for ramps and garage...
