I don't know if any of you remember, there was that huge winter storm ripping through the northeast during Christmas of 2002.

I was in college at the time, me and 3 buddies of mine hopped into my Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V the morning of the storm. The car had summer performance tires on. We were heading towards California for a wedding (leaving from about 20 minutes north of New York City).

The storm was so bad that the entire highway was empty for about 6 hours. Not a single other car. We were going about 20-40 mph for the first day. At night the snow was so heavy that we had to turn our headlights off. With them on it reflected the snow and it created a wall of snow you couldn't see past...used hazard lights only.

Next entire day was very icy, and the snow levels had dropped, but we were picking up so much ice/snow in the wheels that we had to stop every hour because the wheel balance would get thrown off and shake like crazy.

Of course, we get to California and are crossing the Sierra Nevada mountains and they threaten to ticket us if we didn't put on snow chains because there was a light dusting of snow on the ground.

edited slightly for grammar
I'm glad everything worked out, but I hope that's not something you are really proud of, 'cuz it's a pretty crazy thing to do!

Just had to drive my S yesterday in snow and ice with my RE-01r's on it. Way scarier than my civic with all seasons (rain/snow car), but it was unavoidable. My experience has been as long as you are extremely gentle with your inputs you'll be ok. Never gonna drive in those conditions again though, thats what the civic is for.

lol seriously guys? it's not THAT bad. anything less than powder snow is fine with a little common sense. obviously packed snow and ice are different animals.

Well im in Vancouver, BC and we've been getting snowfall warning for the past few days. So thats crap and the temp has been down to -10 degrees celcius...the lowest its gone since i lived here for the past 10 years. As long as the road is dry...as cold as it is...i've been okay daily driving the car...once ice/snow hits...im pretty much screwed...:/

Eagle f1's in low 30's here. I never have any problems. Slow down and maintain you following distance. I even cut up a little once I get heat in the tires.

Wintersport M3s for the win. First snow/cold week and I switch out. Only takes 30 min or so if you have them mounted on a 2nd set of ap1 wheels.
