Surprising warranty service experience
My S2000 went in today for a center console replacement (back armrest keeps popping up) and a sticking ignition switch.
The dealer told me that it could have happened because it got deformed, or because the alarm installer hamfisted it when they took it off/put it back on. They gave me the benefit of the doubt and replaced the whole assembly (shift-boot back to armrest, one piece) under warranty.
My other nagging problem was the ignition sticking and acting like the key was still in the ignition after it was removed. It went from a once or twice a month thing to every other time get out of the car. However, it would never do it at the dealer.
I got wise and recorded the malfunction on my camcorder. The car refused to malfunction when I tried to demonstrate it to the service tech. The first tech told me he did not care if I recorded it, they need to *SEE* it malfunction in order to do anything about it. The service manager came over a minute or so later, I showed him the tape, and he went off to speak to a mechanic. Two minutes later he came back and said they would fix or replace the ignition switch, depending on what they find.
A few hours later, I get the car back. Ignition is still busted, the parts have to be sent in from Japan, and the car's ignition decided to give the dealer a taste of the annoyances it gave me while in their care. It malfunctioned every time they parked the car.
Yeah, it's a hassle taking the car back for these minor glitches, mostly because no one is stocking the parts, but I am quite pleased at how nice the service department is treating me - I did not expect that at all.

Service Bulletin 03-012 , applies to 02-03's. The repair is to cut the console cover under the armrest pad where 2 ribs press against the cover. It doesn't take that long and can't be seen unless you remove the console.
Hey rworne, I met you at ralpers drive. Where are you taking your car? I've had mine in many times to Palmdale Robertson's Honda and they always are nice and have taken care of all my complaints, all under warranty. I know it's far for you but thought I'd let you know. They even did the clutch SB although they never heard the problem and took my word for it.
