Fairly straight forward process. You have to remove 4 bolts that hold it to the arms (2 on each side). You will also need to disconnect the brake light and the lock trigger harness. These pop out and you can feed it back out the trunk lid. I did this a month ago. One nice tip is to mark on the arms in pencil where your lid currently sits. When you put it back on this will help to keep it aligned.

Also place a towel under the lid corners so you don't drop it down and scratch.

You are not messing with the springs when you do this.

Raise your trunk lid and look at the arm. There are two bolts that hold the lid. All you have to do is remove the bolts from each arm and the lid comes off. Also will need to disconnect earlier mentioned items.

The springs don't come into play with a lid swap.

Now if you are adding a CF lid you will need to remove the springs. The spoiler install says you need to add a more sturdy spring. I didn't do this and it works fine.

Trunk lid swap is a breeze........I've done it 50 times already.....litterally... 4 bolts as mentioned above, the two wiring harnesses and DEFINATELY use towels on the corners!! 10mm bolts hold the latch assembly to the trunk lid and 5 bolts hold the brake light onto the trunk lid.

The springs can be removed by a big screwdriver......the specialty tool is easier.....but YOU DO NOT NEED to remove the trunk springs to swap trunks or when you go to a cf trunk.

Bending the trunk springs or trying to make them stiffer or softer is futile....just leave them alone unless you really want to swap them or remove them totally.

make sure that if you do a trunk swap you swap key lock assemblies also. This is easy but make sure not to lose the rod fasteners when you take apart the key lock. The fasteners twist off.....don't force them or you'll break the plastic fastener or bend the rod to the key mechanism.

There are threads on here that show how to remove the springs. Some just use pliers and vice grips while some use the spring removal tool like you can get at hardtopguy.

You can leave the springs on with a CF but you need to be carefull and open it when you are by it so you can catch it. It will go up fairly fast. Some people just remove one side of the spring but I have read this can cause fitment problems.

I am no expert on this and am sure some can speak further to what to do.

Leave the trunk springs alone....... you can get proper fitment on a CF trunk by shifting either the latch mechanism up on the trunk lid or moving the D ring down on the trunk. 10mm bolts.

I dunno how this got into a CF trunk topic, but we are actually swapping a trunk with no spoiler, for a trunk with an oem spoiler already attached, thus I would like the upgraded springs for the trunk to hold it up sturdier(word?) Thats why we are switching trunks.
