Just after a little, after a spin out and front end crash into a stationary vehicle.

An accident 200 metres up the road meant the slip-road I entered was congested in one of the two lanes , braked to avoid stationary traffic, with maybe a quarter lock turn of the steering wheel, big spin out through two of the stationary cars catching the rear of one, smashing and pulling off my whole front bumper, offside wing bent, headlights etc.

Felt okay then. Pissed now!!!

Well Paul, doesn't look like your getting much so condolences from the other side of the world.

I'm originally from Durham - almost a Novacastrian - and its good to see there are still things in common across all the miles between.

Hope you get the Stook mended soon and keep on enjoying it!

Let me offer my condolences from "this side" of the world. Most of us are sleeping at this hour so you will likely hear from more later. Sucks to bang up your baby like that. Hope you soon get it all straightened out.

You have my sympathies. I have been keeping a low profile here recently because I had a similar problem last weekend.

As the wife and I were returning from dinner Sunday night (and not more than a half mile from the safety of my garage), an old lady in a Crown Victoria pulls out in front of me ... I'm travelling 47-48MPH and had two choices:
1. plow into the back of her, sue her A$$ off and buy a new stook.
2. attempt an emergency lane change and hope I can get around her.

I chose #2. I'm not sure if I made the right choice or not... Unfortunately, the roads were wet, and when I made my infintessimally small change of vector, coupled with very slight braking, the back end came out. I was able to keep the spin reasonably under control to avoid smashing into the palm trees in the median, but ended up sliding around, right rear wheel first, into the curb edge on the lane divider. I literally hit the curb flush against the right rear wheel. No body damage, but the suspension took a heavy and the wheel is toast. I crabbed-walked the injured car back to house to inspect the damage. (BTW, the old byatch didn't even see me, or stop to see if we were OK )

Turns out that aside from a very minor scratch to the undercarriage and right lower rocker, the damage was limited to the suspension. My shop tells me the damage is about $3400 and I will MAYBE have my car back in a couple of weeks...

I am so mad, frustrated, and generally disappointed in myself (even though it really wasn't my fault) that I am just sick over it.

This is the second wet-related spin for me. The first was a hydroplane incident, and totally my fault... Here I just tried to save my life.. and my car. I guess I should have just plowed into her and gotten a new car.

Needless to say, my sincere condolences.

Hootsama,

Sorry to hear about that. You don't see too many old people driving Crown Vic's down here (especially this time of year).

What road were you on? Who is fixing your car? (hopefully I will never need this info!)

F8,

I was travelling south on St. Andrews... the old lady pulled out from Verde Trail... I spun around and hit the median across the street from Walgreen's.

The car went back to the dealer (Sherwood Honda), which I did reluctantly based on the fact that they are my dealer, and also a direct-bill shop for State Farm. I am leery of having any of the brainless yahoos out there in Honda-land touch my car, but probably better than someone totally unfamiliar with the S.

God, I am just heart-broken about this. This BS actually had me thinking about selling the car... NEVER!!!!

I haven't been too impressed with Sherwood Honda (atleast not the sales dept.).

I hope you have a better experience. A couple weeks before it's fixed? (ouch).

Maybe by then my new yellow one will be in. I still want to see your stereo install before I do another system in the new one.
