Synthetic Question....
Your 2006 has an "oil minder". Do what it and the owner's manual says.
when you changed your oil at 6000 miles, did the oil minder say you should? And did you reset the oil minder when you did the change? Because if you didn't, you'll be asking this question again later. Same goes for reading the manual. If you don't know what it says, you'll be asking again later.

You should not have put synthetic in at 6000 miles. Unless the '06 is pre broken in (unlike previous MY's) it isn't fully broken in 'til 10,000 miles or so. Putting synthetic oil in before that will slow down the break in process, if not stop it all together. The second oil change, around 10,000 to 12,000 is the time to start using synthetic oil.

I thought that you could drive longer without changing the oil when using synthetic?

FMINUS,
There's been some debate about this. Years ago, Honda issued a letter to the dealerships recommending not to use synthetic before about 10,000 miles. The point, we think, was to make sure the engine fully broke-in before (more slippery) synth was brought in.
What we don't really know is that the recent S2000 engines are honed differently than the MY00-MY03 engines, and possibly don't need as much time to fully break in. That said, I still recommend dino oil until 10,000 miles. It can't hurt.
As for your point about driving longer... As I understand it, the oil minder is more than just a mileage-based system. It has some sensors to determine the quality of the oil in your reservoir -- if I'm wrong say so, guys -- and thus you should just trust it to make the right decision for you.

I didnt change the oil until the oil minder went to 10%. When I changed the oil, the minder was reset also.

As for going longer, you probably could have, however, in keeping with the terms of your warranty, you can't do this just yet. To do so, would jeopardize that warranty. If you are inclined to keep oil in there longer, wait till your warranty has expired or you have done something else to the car that would void it. At that time, you may want to confirm the oil's viability by analysis for the period you wish to use. But keep in mind that although your oil may be good enough to go for longer, your oil filter may not.
Chaz, it is also my belief that the '06 "oil minder" is comprised of a complex algorithm that incorporates not only mileage, but all sorts of things such as length of trip, ambient temps, operating temps for both coolant and intake, revs sustained and for how long, etc. It's no longer that little mileage counter that tripped the "MAINT. R'QUIRED" light.

in the my06 manual, it says you can switch to synthetic at the first oil change as long it meets standards.

Excerpt from above:
There is really no advantage in using synthetic unless you are running F.I. or operate the car in extremely cold conditions. In such scenarios, the flow characteristics of synthetic will be of some benefit.
I believe that Honda's "memo" to dealers to have their S2000 customers wait till 7500 miles before going to synthetic was more for AP1 cars, where the oil usage was quite extremely and Honda wanted those owners to give their engines more time to fully seat the rings to the FRM liners. Since the AP2 rarely have reports of high oil consumption, I don't think Honda is quite so worried about going synthetic at the first change.

Exactly, do what the oil minder says! Honda figured it was worth adding such a device in our cars, so who are we to doubt it?
(now if they'd only add a pressure gauge)

(now if they'd only add a pressure gauge)
and around the end of summer, when putting in storage
as far as oil press.guage,:
