Emil, only you could manage to post pics of your car in an oil change thread.

i wouldn't base it on the miles but what the MMS says. if its at 0% you still have a few hundred miles before changing the oil if i'm not mistaken.

i recently switched to synthetic at 6k and my MMS was -79 miles before i made the switch. if i drive the same way i did for the 1st 6k then i should expect another change 6k later.

Right. Fuggetaboudit. It's all about engine life and not about improved gas mileage.

Im not talking about gas mileage, Im asking if using synthetic will prolong miles driven before an oil change is needed.

Sorry. I don't know. I don't think that synthetic will get any less dirty than dino. I guess it depends on how the oil minder determines oil life. If it just measures clarity, then I think you'll see no difference between synth and dino. The oil filter is pretty much going to fill up over the same amount of miles.

Synthetic oil lasts longer, i.e. doesn't break down as fast, but accumulation of impurities in the oil and subsequently in the filter takes place at the same rate regardless of oil type. Solution - use synthetic oil for less frequent changes AND change the filter every 5 thousand miles or so (and top up the few ounces of oil lost in the process).
