My '00 has the same problem, passenger's side. I contacted American Honda and they said they hadn't heard of any such problem and wouldn't do anything about it.

yeah both sides are really faded on my car. i talked to an officer the other day and he told me that it's illegal and a saftey hazard and the lens has to be red. but when one if my friends talked to AHM they said it's more of a cosmetic issue...

Had the same problem on mine, just bought a new set of '02's to replace them as I haven't heard of '02+ having the fading problems.

Woodwork (THE Honda engineer for s2000 problems) saw a couple of the Bay area crew's faded ones at Sac2k and said he'll most likely have them sent in to be inspected. After that there will be a TSB if they find a problem.

Find the problem? The problem is UV stability in the lens. The manufature should have know that they would fade. So this is truely a manufature defect if there ever was one. They have tests for this type of stuff. UV boxes that can generate years of exposure in only a few days.

I have heard some dealers call this a "ware item". I did not know that I would need to change my tails lights on some schedule to keep them legal.
