Get out of the way or ignore them. Don't get pissed, pulled over...etc. Chances are the person behind you would love to be in charge of 9,000 RPMs.

Assuming you're referring to the interstate, if you're in the left lane and holding someone else up, then you need to get out of the way. Either move to the right lane or speed up, but get out of the way. The Germans have this down to an art and driving over there was a blast.

This is the answer. You should never put yourself in a position to be tailgated. The point hits home if you have driven a motorcycle on interstate rides. If I am in the left lane doing 80+ I will yield way and get over if someone wants to do a 100+, it doesn't matter.

Funny point though, I recently came up on someone riding the left lane on a 3 lane highway at 70 mph in a 65 mph zone. People were passing him violently and he seamed to be trying to prove his point like all slow left lane drivers do. I then got in front of him and slowed to 60 to 65 mph, he immediately gets mad and tries to pass me, I turn in front of him and slow down again, he didn't like it at all.

When I'm being tailagated I don't even pay much attention to them, if Im in the left lane I just move to the right. By braking all you are doing its going down to their level, also the chances of causing an accident increase.

Im going to try the water pray one.

One guy told me he slides over onto the shoulder just a bit so his back tire picks up all the little rocks on the side of the road and kicks them up behind you. Most of us have pretty sticky tires in the S so lots of stuff gets kicked up by doing that. People will back off when they realize their vehicles are being sandblasted. I think I'd have to be in a pretty extreme situation where someone was being a complete a$$ and messing with me pretty bad to do something like that.

It's certainly a problem in the UK but not in France, Germany or Italy where lane discipline is so much better. Over here you get Mr or Mrs Dickweed sitting in the RH lane (Lane 2 or Lane 3 depending on the width of the M-way) at 70/75mph oblivious to the build up of traffic behind them. People tailgate them becase they should get out of the way. I don't find drivers tailgating me in the car normally because I'm the one doing the overtaking. It's more of a problem with the bike in slow traffic where they don't leave enough of a gap, and this is with a big bike not some 90cc moped.
