Has anyone taken delivery of their S2000 with the plastic still on the body? My dealer called today, and (knowing how fussy I am) offered to let me have the car in any stage of "clean-up" I wanted. He would, of course, still do all the mechanical checks.

The only reason I'm asking is that for one of the last cars I purchased, I asked the dealer not to buff, wax or clean up the paint, and the paint was the best I've ever seen on a car

 

Send them this dealer letter. Or a version of it.
I didn't let them touch my Melissa. They pealed the plastic when I got there. She still has no swirlys. Paint is perfect. Course she got washed when she came home followed by several coats of Zaino Z2.

Had mine shipped with the plastic still on. Not a big deal to take it off yourself. Its actually kind of fun "unwrapping" her.
