Default take off normal sound

Just curious what you hear when you take off from a stop? That little whirling sound, what part of the drivetrain is that?

I think that "whirling" sound is generated by the transmission.

Is that normal to hear the whirling and some noise from the tranny?

That whirling sound is perfectly normal and generally is more pronounced on RWD vehicles like our S2000's. I believe the noise is coming from the driveshaft and differential area. If you are just cruising in a gear and hear a high pitched whirling noise, that's coming from the sycronizers in your transmission. Hearing a nice whirling sound is good news as it means everything is working fine, usually............
