Taking car out of storage..
So I am getting ready to take my car out of storage. I changed the oil before I stored it. Is there anything I need to do, maintenance wise, when I take out my car?
Thanks,
Thanks,
Obviously, you want to check your fluid levels. If you haven't had a trickle charger on your battery, you may need to charge it to get it started. Don't forget to check your tire pressure.
If there's any way to pressurize your oil before pressing the start button, that would do the most good. I've got a prelube pump on my car so I don't have that problem. There isn't an easy way to do this with a stock setup.
Whatever you do, don't rev the engine when you first start it. The oil passages are drained out, and it will take a few seconds to get oil to the various parts of the engine. Without oil pressure, you don't have hydrodynamic lubrication, meaning there is almost certainly some metal-to-metal contact and wear.

What can you do when your car has not been started for a month or so? I have mine in storage and have had to start it and move it a couple times this winter.
What the hell can you do? Would tapping the start button a couple times squirt any oil into the passages/etc or would that be worse than just starting it and letting it idle?
Kinda a crappy situation.

Pull the fuel pump fuse and crank the car a couple times. It'll move the oil but won't start the car.

A cranking engine is turning MUCH slower than an engine that's just been started. If you're that anal you can manually turn the engine via the crank pulley before you do this. Even I'm not that anal though and I spent $4000 to have mine fully built.
