Don't talk to me about driving fast. My S2000 has a "boat anchor" up front with a T56 and ZR1 IRS, so it's no featherweight. Without ABS, it's not exactly easy. Nor is my '69 Z/28, or my '72 SS before that. Both 500+ whp.

How about a '72 Monte Carlo with a 496? Ya, it's just a stroll around the block, it is.

This bravado and chest beating is only a result of your condescending attitude toward anyone younger than yourself. Age is a pathetic argument.

You're not that old, eh? Well, quit makin' yourself out to be.
Wasn't the veracity of this questioned on another thread? Your claims are exactly d**k without proof anymore. And you're showing your age. One of my favorite quotes is from a friend of mine on another forum:

"Until he is twenty-five, every so often, a man thinks that, given the right set of circumstances, he could be the baddest motherer on the planet."

Grow up, and until then, take your adolescent d**k swinging elsewhere.

To the topic starter and everyone else, I sincerely appologize for my harshness, but Alex has been spewing a lot lately with no proof, especially when pressed about it, as well as being rude to almost every dissenting viewpoint.

I'll show you in my '78 Chevy longbed.

This guy is funny. Pops.

I'm an old fogey of 46 and I crashed my first car at 19, but it still ran and I didn't get hurt. It was used when I bought it, and ugly, but cheap. Just a minor fling off of Mullholland Drive, and in this case the tree saved me. The front end of the car went into a chain link fence and the back was held from tumbling down the hillside by the tree. Call me what you like whippersnapper but I'm glad I didn't get nice car until I was 24. But I'm not cool like you must be.

For all we know, Alex could have started when he was 12 years old. If he is 19 or 20 years old, that would mean 7-8 years of experience. I don't think anyone has the right to judge anybody on the basis of their age. I started when I was 14 years old. By the time I turned 19, I had 5 years of experience. I don't understand how a person can judge another person just because they are 18-19 years old What does someones age have to do with the price of egg's in Egypt

any responses in this thread should have stuck with the thread topic.
the title states "Teen Drivers", unless you consider 46 in the teens, you should not be responding here. obviously being 46 ur insurance will differ, your experience with this car at a young age will differ as well. so instead of stirring up shit why don't you guys act as the more "mature" members on this site and hold your tongues?

if u want me to make you all feel better ill make a thread entitled "Aging S2000 Owners"

oh ya buddy, you can as easily kill yourself in an A4 as u can in an s2000, u might as well look better doing it.
get the s2000, take ur time with it,
im 18 years old my first car was a vintage red 3rd gen Rx-7, never crashed it and that car had a hell of a lot more power than this car does and the same 50/50 weight ratio and great handling.

the s2000 is just a honda. its a sports car made for the middle class, don't let these people make this car out to be more than it is. its a great car no doubt but not a Lambo or Ferrari by any standard.

It is not the car that dictates overall performance, but the person sitting in the drivers seat. I don't want to scare anyone, but people have lost lives throughout the history of the automobile. People of ALL race, religion, sex, creed and AGE have lost lives in automobile accidents. An accident can happen to anybody. You can't always blame an accident on a car (S2000 in this instance) that would be like saying "it was the guns fault". It is the person using the gun who is responsible.

I agree with what Elizer said "oh ya buddy, you can as easily kill yourself in an A4 as u can in an s2000". People have died in many, many different types of cars over the years. To say a S2000 is not a good first car is stereo typing the S2000.
As far as saying "teen drivers are not as good as 25 year old drivers", that is considered stereo typing.

Get the car, get it and enjoy it. Follow your heart, you only live once. When you get your S2000, or any sports car, take your time. Speed is something that has to be gradually built up to. Respect the car, respect speed and respect everyone around you. Like I said, just take your time

After you are comfortable in the car, then you can

Just kidding

Unfortunately, in the eyes of insurance companies, age matters a great deal.

There's a reason insurance goes down at 25...

I thought we were allowed out in S2000 talk as well. I'll just go back to my rocker on the porch now.

Old fogies, young fogies, men, woman, children of all race, religion and creed are welcome in S2000 talk as well as this thread. Some of the peeps in this thread just don't want to be stereo typed because of their age, that's all

Carry on

Mike, i am 16 turing 17 very soon and i drive the familys Boxster S. I am fully covered under all three cars in the house hold (Boxster, Audi S6, and FX35) for 4000 a year. And as a young driver with about a year of experience in a very nice car, i would advise against the S for your first. I am not saying or implying that you are a bad or insufficent driver but what i have come to grasp with after a year behind the wheel of a Porsche is that, almost everything you drive next will be a step downward. It is a very depressing feeling to have and i look at the S as the same level of performace as the Box S if not even more hardcore. Unless you can pick up a Porsche or Ferrari after you get rid of the S, i wouldnt get it. You know the age old cliche, "Good things come to those who wait" well its very true. If you start out with the best, then you dont truly appreciate what you have becasue you havent experienced anything else. You just become very jaded knowing that most things out there can't compare with what you have.

Also, i dont see why people are against FWD cars. Every car has a different way to be driven, and if you can really master a front drive car, then more power to ya. After all, its the driver, not the car.

But if you do get the S, i just hope you have very involved parents in your driving. Parents whos discourage or makes a huge fuss about driving safely are the ones most likely to have their kids in an accident. Instead of you dad telling you dont do this and dont do that, i hope he is active in teaching you the ways of driving fast but also defensively. Lastly, as many have suggested, do go and take some sort of defensive driving courses. It will really help one day (sure did save my ass in a few close calls). You need to learn how to react to you cars behavior while at the limit off the streets and these courses are the next best thing to track time.

Sorry for the long post but just wanted to get my 2 cents in to a fellow young driver before the thread got shut down.

Most people on this board don't stereotype anything other than the content of people's posts...
