I'm 19 and just bought my 04. If your ganna buy an S I hope you have a pretty stable job to pay for it. I use my S mainly to go to work and school, so it see's a more highway miles then street. Gas mileage is great. My payments are 550 a month and I bought the car under my fathers name because he has amazing credit, and I have none. Insurance is also under his name so its only 180. Anyway I would defently go with the S rather then the a4.
you are screwed if you crash the car. insurance companies don't pay up when you lie to them.

If it were me, I would never lease a car. Sure, some people just love to lease, but the fact of the matter is that you end up paying more in the long run for the car and you are attached to mileage limits and maintence checkups--not that those arent important. Buying a car will increase your net worth and will definately help you out in the long run. You might not understand this now, but trust me, it is very important to realize this in terms of building credit for the future.
actually, it lowers your net worth as you usually owe more than it is worth.

also, leasing is exactly like buying then selling in a few years, with no resale risk.

I'm a week away from being 18...i've had my S for about 6 months now...and before it i had a 1993 Prelude SI. Honestly, the S is sick, but there is a huge chance u will bang it up if u start out with it. Buy a quick car that is cheap and that you'll have no problem beating it up. Keep it for at least a good 6 months...make some mistakes and learn. Thats what i did...i took the Prelude over 100 all the time, hit a pole, and finally slid it off the road before i finally learned the power of a fast car. Now i drive like an old woman unless it's dry, no traffic, and a big road. With great power comes great responsibility dude. I'll admit it will suck having a crappy car when u could have the S, but it's better than smashing up a nice car...

Im 19 now, had the car for a year and a half. Seriously though, it really really really IS up to you. If you know you can afford it and like the car, then get it. If you don't like the car or you don't think you can afford it....don't.
I was lucky enough to have learned my lessons on the road. If you love the car and love yourself, go take some driving lessons. I've had driving lessons from a Defensive driving group, plenty of autocrossing events and now I've moved onto tracking. I am confident enough to say that I'm better than some people who's been driving for more years than I have (no offense guys). If you can learn OR if you know you love yourself enough to be responsible, then you can get any car you want in the world (that is if you can afford it).

Obviously you don't know that sometimes age isn't a factor.

Some people are born with the ability to drive extremely well.

I've driven better than quite a few people that have been driving for MANY years, so sometimes it can just be that you're born with the ability to adapt to the characteristics of racing a car, RWD, FWD, you name it.
Age isn't the factor I was referring to. It was experience. Either you have it, or you don't. And you aren't born with experience.

Certainly some people are born with better reflexes, better hand-eye coordination, better developed sense of sensory perception. That makes some people better able to handle things. I too had fun in my youth with a variety of speedy cars.

If you're a good driver, then you are. And it doesn't matter what kind of car you're in. If you are a bad driver, you'll be dangerous behind the wheel regardless of what kind of car it is.

Some people are born with the ability to drive extremely well. ZO6 Vette's, 911 Targa, 944 Turbo, S2000, RX-7, Mustang -- quite a lot of cars to have experience with... the only ones I didn't push it very hard with are the ZO6 Vette and the 911 Targa.

Hi,
Im 16 and got my s2k about 3 months ago... I have to admit, I didnt realize how dangerous the s2k was after reading all those spin out stories. I know I dont have much driving exp so i drive EXTRA careful and take my turns slow.

As for insurance, my car is included in my familys family plan and with my grades, the insurance is pretty decent.

How much do you guys pay?

Normally i would say no!! but since i just turned 18 and is still in high school i got my 01 S2K around 2 months ago and in my opinion my insurance ain't that bad... Of course i'm still under my old man's insurance... But as far as that goes me and him pay a total of 800 per 6 months for insurance and it is full coverage for my s2k and his lexus rx300..

BTW i had a 4x4 jeep grand cherokee which saved me alot in many situation, just not on gas!! but it was a good begeinners car

One bad thing.. I basically have like zero spending money as soon as i owned the S!! Very rarely do i have over 20 bux in my wallet..but sacraficces are too be made for those you love!!!
