My circa. 2002 German (foam) Roof liner which has been slowly disintegrating for years is toast!
I recieved and just installed a "Finer Liner" from emac0408 (search for "Finer Liner")
The fabric I ordered is (Sunbrella?) canvas (MUCH sturdier than the German unit) AND insulated. Very high quality workmanship, material, fit and function. The top folds when down with little change in the top "down" parking height (a concern with insulated unit). Definite sound deadening I estimate 20% or more quieter.
Great fit and even greater look(see photos). Emac has seriously done his homework on this one.
The install took around 3-4 hours, with cleaning, marking centerlines and fitting velcro.
Emac was helpful with replies to my questions and a few sketches and he will customize colors if needed.
Very taut front to rear (first few times had to help roof close a bit). A few side - side wrinkles but may be gone with time, still a great look and fit.
A clean (non-ricey) mod for those interesting in a vast improvement to their passenger compartment. A killer mod for the long term. For less than 1/2 of the cost of the German unit and MADE IN USA by a true craftsman.
Looks great, I would definitely have gotten one if I didn't get my hardtop over the winter months. Looks like the best option for softops. Does it cut down on noise at all ?. Looks like he took my tip on covering the rear quarters (the noisiest parts of the top). Great to see a forum member come up with a great product like this, hand-made in the good ol' USA.

JFusion, IMHO the top (with the optional insulation) does reduced sound, and to me it seems quite a lot. However I cannot support this claim with data. On hindsight, it would have been good to get sound DBA readings before and after. I suspect the biggest bene would be on longer trips at highway RPM. You can put the top up for a little break to the ears. Then top down for the true S2000 effect. Best of both.
The reason I installed the liners was to get anticipated sound reduction and thermal temperature reduction to the passengers. Plus the roof linkage, although not obtrusive, seemed a bit "unfinished" to me - just personal preference.
The fabric seems to, quite closely, resemble the feel of the S2K vinyl top material except softer. I understand the Finer Liner guy also offers a vinyl material which may be smoother.
All, thanks for the compliments. I like the effect of lightening up the slightly claustrophobic black roof color considering my 6'1" size. And for the perfomance minded the liner is not very heavy I would say just a couple of lbs.

well chances are if you hit one it will be the last thing you see especially if your driving an S.

Thanks for the review! The liner looks great. I'm glad you went with red. You're right about the canvas- it's good stuff and manufactured by Sunbrella (very faded resistant). I'm glad I out-engineered the Germans too.
I do offer vinyl as well, but basically, any fabric will work. I'm actually sourcing Alcantara and suede for someone at the moment.
