I was just wondering if most of the people actually got a chance to test drive the car before buying it. I've got my order at 2 different dealers both msrp, but being this way every car that comes to the dealer is already sold, leaving me like no chance to really try the car. I was just wondering what the others have done about this, or if they even cared about a test drive.

You could try to find someone close to you to give you a ride.

I was not able to take a test drive either. So, I decided to get on a waiting list without driving one.

Before my car came in, I had a chance to test drive a used

I demanded a test drive at my dealer. The first saleswoman denied my request with a flat out no and smiling at me. But, the second person let me drive the car. Needless to say, I bought the car from him.

I didn't test drive mine either. Most s2k's that show up at a dealer are usually pre-sold already, which means they can't let you test drive it because it technically already belongs to someone. But it was OK. I didn't really care, I just knew I wanted it and knew everything would work out. And I was right, I guess I just have "Honda Faith". You won't be disappointed. The low torque thing is not as bad as the magazine articles say, especially if you are used to Hondas. Now the oversteer thing, well, that will get some getting used to, especially if you have been driving front wheel drive cars all your life (like me).

I leased mine and was able to drive before I signed on the dotted line. The car had 189 miles on it when I got it, but it seems to have suffered no ill effects.

I wanted to test drive the S2K too before buying it but I couldn't find any dealers would let me do it which made sense because 1st 600 miles under 6K RPM is crucial for proper break in so they wouldn't want you to take it to the limit before making decision. Anyway, the S2K is the ONLY car I've ever bought w/o test driving it. So far so good for me.

Although some of my Oz compatriots weren't as fortunate the dealer actually brought a black S2k out to my place and let me take it for a test drive. On the way back I told him I'd take it .. but I wanted a blue one. 5 days later it was delivered to my place. I didn't go into the dealership once. The car had 28 kilometers on the clock which I figured was fair enough as they had to get it from another dealership further upstate and it's about 20 k's from the local dealership to my place anyway. All in all I was visited by 2 salesman twice and a few days later two gorgeous females in power suits that were despatched to seduce ... er sell.. me accessories. I pressured the salesman a bit and he claimed that they could sometimes speak to the insurance company and get the premium reduced a bit. Insurance ended up being $1000 AUD (about $543 USD) instead of $1900 AUD (A good insurance rating helped also). A couple of weeks later a call from Honda Australia.. "How do I like the car?" ... gave them some feedback. Overall a pretty good experience that one would expect when buying a new car.

My dealer gave my choice of the 1st 3 cars they recieved and then let me test drive the one I picked... they then locked up the car until I gave them and answer... The car had 16 miles on it when I picked it up, mostly mine. give Annaline at Freeman honda in Dallas a call, if your ready to sign, they will let you drive the car prior to purchase. FYI, I did not go over 5500 rpm's on the test drive.
