Default Test drove an AP2

It was an 06 with 112k miles on it. I saw it on the dealership lot when I was picking up some maintenance stuff, and I asked someone if I could drive it. The salesman was really cool and let me and my friend drive it around.

As for the driving impressions, I can help this feeling it gave me. It must have had silencers or something because it was quieter than my brother's Ford Focus. And it felt dead too. Like the clutch was lifeless, throttle was flat feeling and the brakes were meh. I honestly think this is all due to the mileage (excluding the exhaust, idk wtf is up with that), because if they all drove like this I'd call half of you madmen.

Has anyone else driven both and want to tell me this was a fluke or if I'm onto something?

Also, the dealer wanted nearly $18k for this thing. With 112k miles on it!

My clutch is really soft compared to many other ap2s and ap1s I've driven. Damn pressure plate

06 is dbw, so that's the "flat" feeling you're referring to.

$18k is about right for retail, $17.6k is the KBB retail value w/ that mileage.

me and my roomie drove each others s2ks. he has a 02 bb ap1 and i have a 06 ssm ap2 (all stock at the time). He really liked the transmission in mine, he said it was a lot smoother than his. thought the throttle was fairly flat, as expected with dbw. his ap1 definitely felt more "raw" than my ap2. he liked the clutch in mine, didn't say anything about the brakes, i thought the brakes felt about the same and the clutch i think i liked his better, was a little stiffer. definitely loved the lighter flywheel, hate the heavier flywheel in the ap2. can't comment about his suspension or drivetrain since they weren't stock (koni yellow and gc coils, 4.44 final drive, upgraded diff).

and i disagree with 18k for that much mileage, definitely way over priced. i got my 06 with 65,000 for 18k at a dealership

$18k is the ASKING price. Doubt they will get that.

I went AP1-->AP2-->AP1

A stock AP2 can be pretty boring... heavy flywheel, clutch delay valve, lower redline, slower steering ratio, suspension designed to understeer, etc.

AP2 is like an AP1 on novacane.

The brakes should be the same though, other than the mad dust that comes off stock AP2 front pads.

I drove both before I made the decision. Money wasnt really a factor as I had about $25k to spend so it all came down to which car felt better. I ended up liking the ap2 better considering i daily drive it and its my only car at the moment. I need the tame-ness of the ap2 to deal with it on a daily basis.

I noticed the smoothness in the transmission too... it did feel good in some regards, but I wasn't a huge fan of the dbw (though hondata would be nice). I liked the center console, so much more usable than the AP1s. And this car had the Qube Engineering Gauges in white, which was very nice. I'm going to do that to my car asap

I redlined it once on the drive, and I was bouncing off the limiter. Definitely like the 9k rpm redline over the 8k. At WOT I think I could feel the VSA too.

And they said it was a no haggle price, so I was like "haha alright, seeya." If I traded my car for that I'd expect an extra 3k in cash so I could fix some of the blemishes.

I quite like my 06 with a custom tune, cat delete, and AP1 slave cylinder (CDV delete). The only thing left to do is get rid of the horrible AP2 flywheel, but even as it stands it's quite fun.
