Default test drove a cr today

hi guys i test drove a cr today that was pretty much brand new 4k miles on it for 25k... The car seemed to have better suspension from the regular model... The only thing was the engine sounded a like the valves were messed up and it idled at a little above 1k rpm... Also when i drove it i dont know if it was the cdv or my driving but the clutch was slipping very very bad when i was driving a little harder. I was wondering if those things are normal??

The engine idles at around 2k when you first start it up and drops to around 800 once it's warmed up. Not sure about the other stuff since i have an AP1 with no CDV.

I am considering trading mine for a cr. As far as I knew, the transmission and the engine has NOT been changed for the cr.

Anybody with a CR want a s2k +$$$$$$

I don't have a real CR, but only did the suspension conversion, and must say the car feels so much livelier!

Maybe get a compression check/leakdown test done...maybe even do a valve retainer check. As 6speedftw said, the idle should be at 800RPM.

CR looks nice. Its not practical if you plan on modding though because of the price. They have dropped though.

CR is noisy and rough, and stiffly controlled on the road compared with the base S. If you like that pure track car feel everytime you drive your car, then the CR will be sure to satisfy. Slipping clutch and uneven idle point to issues. As reliable as these cars are, for a CR to have issues means that the owner really really abused it, IMO.

Agreed. Especially with only 4k miles on the clock... doesn't sound good at all. I think I would pass on it as a long term car.
