Red face test drove GPW 06 today

well first of all ill start by saying i currently own 2002 Sebring silver S, purchased .
december 05,

today i noticed local dealer has a gpw 06, the color i originally wanted but hated the interior choices for every year thus far..

06 finally did something right, with the totally blacked out interior.. LOVED it appearance wise.. although i prefer ap1 head/tails the car was indeed VERY sexy..

So while in today having them install my new trunk springs and checking a warrantee issue.. i told a friend of mine (in sales) grab the keys yo.

start her up... feels same
unclip top and put down... same.
go to put in gear.. HOLY JESUS I FORGOT HOW LONG THE THROW IS W/ OEM KNOB.LOL. (i have countersunk J's) also the clutch was VERY soft. not as crude and rude as the 02 (i love the RAW crude and rudeness)

so impressed by interior but then disappointed by the clutch.. i begin to drive.

the 2.2L engine does have more low en tq..u can feel on each start from the light.. when trying to start her off easy. the shifting felt softer..(but i feel this was the higher oem knob)

the traction control=crap.. while trying to date rape the 06... it interfered.. but then i noticed the off switch where my defrost switch is.
steering felt a lil different as well while bringing the ass around...didnt want to be as responsive as im used to. felt softer. more delicate

so i raped the 06.. oh well ..

in a nut shell in the date rape of the 06... i really LOVE the color and interior setup.. i love the all black dash and all black everything.. the radio door i didnt like but the console made up for it.. the elbow rest makes a bigg difference..

so with all the pros and cons.. i feel the cons won the contest in my book. as after test driving her.. i really liked getting back into my 02 and having the RAW'ness back.

riley

oh yeah.. to put it best my friend stated

8um: they tried to tame it
rijowysock: hated it
seN8um: its like that magician that got mauled by the tiger
seN8um: taming = not good
seN8um: lol

Hmmm, I feel robbed when I'm below 6k in an ap1. Guess it all evens out in the end

ap1 FTW!!! joke. both are great cars- like the low end of the ap2 muuch better (where i spend 95 percent of my time driving) but that other 5 percent makes up for it

I picked up my old MY02 Sebring new in Oct 02, then just dumped it in March for a MY06 GPW.......when i first drove the 06 i did like it quite a bit, enough to buy it, but for awhile i did miss the "rawness" of my 02, but the passed after about 3-4 weeks and to be honest, now i do not miss it at all and wouldn't really want it back.

The updates just makes the car more civilized for daily use, which really isn't a bad thing....missed my 03 for about a week.
