Does the Test Pipe on Stock Exhaust for an AP1 sound raspy?
since we're on this topic......is there any noticable gain from just doing the test pipe.

IMO, it gives it a horrible rasp that sounds terriable. But YMMV.
Assuming you have stock exhaust? Not many. As stated it is a supporting mod. Alone it won't do much at all, maybe 1-3hp which is unnoticable.

i just paired a berk TP with my HKS and i can really tell there is SOME power difference in that it pulls a little harder on midrange can't beat the sound either.. the HKS has a built in resonator so it isnt too loud.

AP2 stock exhaust with Berk Technologies TP here. Do note that I had an AEM V2 intake and Hondata IMG installed prior to installing the Berk Technologies TP.

I can't wait to try a testpipe now. Got a custom uitlizing stock piping and what looks like a dynomax bullet muffler installed before the split. Only complaint on my exhaust is previous owner cut off old mufflers and crush-bent 2.5 inch piping out the back of both sides. I think there is about 3 crush bends on both sides. That can't be good for flow. Can't decide to install an invidia testipe and call it good, or get a 2.5 inch custom header-back using the muffler I already have. I think I would have to buy 2 pre-made mandrel bends to make it work-about 56.00 bucks. Hmm...

I have a Berk TP paired with stock exhaust and I noticed a bit of an increase. Definitely more pleasurable than all stock. The sound is a little higher pitched than a 350z, but by no means raspy... not by a long shot. The smell is not bad, except in garages and when sitting at a light depending on which way the wind is blowing. Definitely good bang for the bucks.
