Default Test pipe combined with comptech exhaust?

I have a comptech exhaust and am considering going catless. I love the sound of the comptech and wanted to make sure the test pipe didnt take away from its signature deep sound. i am looking for it to be louder at higher rpm. the comptech sounds great but engine noise takes over once v-tec kicks in.

Ive done searches but havent found anything specificly describing the comptech test pipe combo.

Any opinions would be great...sound clips even better

the comptech is very similier to the fujitsubo which i had
without the test pipe the fuji had a deep growl before VTEC but went quite after
when i installed the test pipe, the exhaust became much louder at full throttle and could be heard before and after VTEC
im guessing that its the exact same with the comptech as i heard they are VERY similier in looks/sound/construction

I have a Comptech,and a Megan "resonnated"test pipe.
The sound is a little raspier, not really louder.
Crusing at highway speed,and Vtec,you won't hear a difference.
At idle,=raspier;blipping the throttle,is where the diff.is,you will hear it "bark".

I have the Comptech exhaust, header and test pipe. (I also have the Comptech drop-in filter if that matters).

I put the exhaust and header on first and ran with the cat. (I don't think the header affects the sound of the exhaust much at all, you just can hear a much more pronounced ticking from the engine). Adding the test pipe adds maybe 3-5 decibels at 5,000 rpms and lower. (I measured it). At vtec it's a whole different sound. It takes the sound of the exhaust and magnifies it dramatically. It's very nice, and very much like the exhaust with the cat, but much louder and more aggressive.

I think the test pipe is a very enjoyable addition. Get the mechanical CEL eliminator instead of the electrical one. They're more successful at eliminating CELs.

on my 02 I ran a Spoon Test Pipe w/ my Comptech Exhaust and I luved it......not too sure about the "pronounced ticking", I don't think that was from the combo mentioned (I could be wrong)......overall: much more aggressive sounding, I luved it miss the sound also

a header is what produces a ticking fromt he engine. No header, no louder ticking...

I hit vtec in a short tunnel today - the scream was so loud I couldn't hear the Modifry beeper telling me when I was approaching redline!

I'd try to tape record it, but sound clips are worthless with exhausts, IMHO. I think all the comparisons are good for is decibel testing like that clip from Japan in the library.
