Default Test-Pipe only?

I can't really justify the high prices for a cat-back exhaust, a test-pipe is definitely in my price range. Do they sound well with the stock exhaust? I grew up driving muscle cars with off-road pipes where you couldn't even talk inside, so this car is way too quiet for my tastes, I like LOUD but at the same time I don't want it to sound like a riced out civic.

I ask b/c I can get a used Megan test-pipe for only $30 from a guy i know, I'm assuming I can re-use the stock bolts and gasket? B/c he doesn't have them, just the pipe.

Do a search. plenty of test pipe threads.

$30 is nothing. Buy it and if you don't like it take it off. I'm pretty sure you leave it on.

it will make your exhaust note a tad louder, but not much.

Not much different until 4.5k rpm and above. The difference is little...

Sound won't make a difference. Sounds like a G35 at certain RPM's. I had a Berk testpipe with my stock AP1 exhaust and sounded more 'hollow' not deeper.

I thought about going this route a few times, but decided against it. The amount of soot buildup on your rear bumper is a pain because a normal wash won't remove it (unless you constantly wash it all the time). You will have to clay it and probably do a bunch of other things. My Integra was this way, and I don't want to go back to something like that. Plus, my car is white.

i actually thought the stock exhaust sounded pretty good with just a test pipe. i have an invidia 70mm. you are gonna need new hardware with the new test pipe. the bolts are pressed into the stock cat, as well is the gasket, and niether are reusable. have fun with the spring bolts on the header though.

I always liked my stock exhaust with the test pipe on. It sounded great.

Test pipes make your car smell like a motorcycle.
