Default Test pipe + Resonator Delete = BEE"S CAN!

ok.....i have the K&N FIPK and that heightened the sound. Sounded great....Then i cut out the stock resonator and welded a Staight pipe in their...Sound even MORE better! nice and deep!..

I put the Test pipe in today and had to break off 2 of the 3 bolts to get it off... and put the test pipe in..

i started to rev and started to drive.. OMG......IT SOUNDS LIKE A BEE'S CAN! DOO DOO!!!!!!! and my Engine light is on now!

I dont know if i should some how put the stock resonator back on.. like weld it.. cuz i have no choice with that.. OR just put the stock cat back on. Is there a way to knock out the broken bolts so i can put new ones in??

Save your money guys if you do what i did.....

Ha! I did the same thing! The only diff is my test pipe came with a small resonator inline, maybe about 4" long. Enough to get rid of that bee sound. I know what you mean.
I wonder how it will sound once I put a single exhaust on that I have laying around? Like a bee hive! Sweet.

Anyway, you can knock out those bolts like you would the wheel studs. Hit em with some lube n knock those suckers out!

Good luck!

Can you post pics of the inside of the resonator you removed? I'd like to know if its straight through.

As far as the CEL, did you do the anti-fouler addition to move the o2 sensor out further?

Rather than putting the resonator back in, I would just buy a resonanted pipe in the right size off ebay. You can even get a manaflow one if you like.

That will quiten down.

yeah i bet it does sound pretty raspy! haha I'd probably get the stock resonator put back in where it was before. I'd keep the testpipe cause you will get more power having it than having the resonator still out...

But anyways, to get the studs out of the cat, heat the flange up on each corner until it is red hot, then hit the stud hard with a hammer and it will easily knock out.

crap! Nothing to heat it with.. umm... can i just knock em out anyways?

Well i was thinking of just keeping the test pipe in there AND since i still have the 14 inch tube resonator i got from TURBO mafia, i was thinking of just cutting out the straight pipe and just put THAT in its place..

What do you guys think? sound good? The more i drove it after i got off of work, i could actually feel difference in power. it wasnt like a huge thing but seemed more peppy... if thats the word. So i decided to keep that..

OH..........where is this Anti Fouler plug i can buy? expensive? and after putting it in, do i have to do anything to make the engine like go away? or does it go away by itself?

ya setup is jus like mine, i have the FIPK and T1R testpipe and the car pulls hard like shet.... i dont think its necessary to remove the resonator coz it doesnt increase power maybe 1 or 2 whp but u'll get a horrible sound..

i used to have megan header, berk tp, and oem exhaust. it sounded really good. nice deep throaty and then changes to raspy when in vtec

now i have megan header, t1r 70 sparrow with 70mm tp. sounds insane. ridiculously loud and droney.
since winter is here i put in my silencers. sounds really good. deep throaty sound. and scream in vtec.

i think i will wait till a day that i can stand the loudness of the T1R single, otherwise i will jus stay OEM exhaust.
isnt that the OEM is already very nice for a dual exhaust?

yea.......it does make a difference.......so i think i'mma just have the resonator from Turbo mafia i got sitting in the shed be put on. It would still give me that throaty sound but no bee's can crap.

I'm sure it would be good then..

Does anyone know of a way to get a pipe in without welding??
