Default Thank You Mingster...

...for directing me to this forum. Since buying my 2001 yellow s2k in April, I've been looking for other enthusiasts to share information, gain knowledge and socialize.

I've been thinking about selling or trading my s2k for a 2002 model, only because I want a glass rear window. You had mentioned that the 00-01's can be retrofitted with a new top. I've checked with the 4 local Honda dealers in my area and none know anything about it. If anyone knows where I could have this done, please post whatever info you have.

Thanks in advance!

I think the retro-fit was done by a custom shop in Japan. I'm not sure if Honda is offering this yet.

Does your dealerships service department do the work? If so, please post the name of the dealership and location.

Thanks,

Bob

I don't think dealers have the know-how or actually fix/install the tops themselve. They are more likely to subcontract the job to a local specialized rag top tailor. When my rear window was slashed, that was exactly what the dealer did, while taking a little chunk of the premium for being the middle man.

If I were to get the glass rear window, which I am not, I would buy the top assembly from HandA and take it to a local reputable rag top tailor myself. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you for the suggestion...one that I will definately pursue. I read on another forum that a dealership in AZ has done one, but would like to stay within the southern CA area. When I bought my car, the top was down and when it was put up, the rear window had a crease in the center. I assumed (incorrectly) that it would eventually come out which it never has. I've also had a hell of a time keeping it "unfogged". I take it to the detail shop bi monthly and they don't have much more success than I do getting it defogged.
