Is the PolyDyn treatment a proprietary cryo-treatment or is it something altogether different?

If the part itself were DEFECTIVE(chipped, flawed), Rick would gladly exchange it. No one would willingly ship parts known to be defective, so it would be taken up with the shipper. Here's the deal....once you buy option one, you have the gear set installed by the sub of your choice. Gear sets are highly precise components. There are countless ways to improperly install a gear set and one right one. A DEFECT would mean the gear did not hold up to the task for which it was originally designed, which is contingent on the install itself. So if your option 1 gear set blows up, you can point the finger at two people....the installer, and the guy who used it in a matter for which it was not originally designed for...YOU. Asking Rick to warranty option 1 is like me handing you a piston for your car, then your car blows the motor, and you say it's my fault....

Billman, if you "sold" me the piston, and it disintegrated, then I would say its your fault. Thats just me

So how do you determine who is at fault if a rear end blows? The guy who makes the gear set, the guy who sells the gear set, the guy who installs the gear set, the guy who drives the car, the guy who makes the gear oil, the guy who sells the gear oil, the guy who makes the rear, the guy who makes the car....there are to many variables/ parties involved in the process for one person to be at fault...

Googling PolyDyn turned up this:

www.polydyn.com

I'm guessing this is the company that does the stuff. Read about their High Performance and Industrial Coatings.

Chris.

Every problem has a cause, once determined, then the blame would go to the appropriate source.

You're right, but I could use the same logic if my tire fell off after putting in a new battery if I tried hard enough

It just seems that people want the service of Rick's with warranty and the price of a gear set from KIA.

No one's forcing anybody to buy them from Rick, if you don't like his new prices and terms that go WITH the prices, go to KIA and purchase your gear. It really is that simple.

If i had the cash, i'd buy em from Rick, because they're forged and treated, espicially because of the high failure rate of the 4.77's, i would like a little safety.

Why all the huff and puff over his terms and prices if your local KIA dealer will just charge the 300 bucks? If you don't like his terms, don't buy from him but at the same time don't bombard him with "" and "" for trying to provide strengthened gears for us S owners. Keyword is, the gears are treated not just sold (i believe).
